Feral Fixers brought three more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic today to be fixed. All of them were ferals.
Super-volunteer Jennifer picked them up from Tammy's this morning and brought them to PAWS (Thanks Jennifer!) and I picked them up from PAWS this evening and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery.
When I was at PAWS this evening, waiting for our cats to "wake up" from surgery so I could take them back to Tammy's, I saw another feral cat (not one of ours) that was waiting for surgery. The back half of its tail was dead - I'm guessing that the tail had been caught in a door or something because there were no other wounds on the body and all of the limbs of the cat were just fine. But the middle of the tail had the bone/cartilage showing - this cat must have been in pain and the danger of septic shock was immediate and severe. The PAWS vet amputated the back-half of the tail and sutured it up. The cat received a Convenia shot and I'm sure it will recover just fine. I love the PAWS people - no muss, no fuss, just fix the problem...
With these three cats, Feral Fixers has now processed 75 cats for the month, 154 for the year and 3,659 overall.
