Today, we brought 44 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. 37 of these cats were ferals while the other 7 were 'friendly ferals'.
The super-volunteer-tagteam of Julie and Connie helped me do transport today - and that was a great help - 44 cats is a lot of work! Thanks Julie! Thanks Connie! And, once again, we are indebted to super-volunteer Sue for loaning us her van (Thanks Sue!) and helping to get the cats ready on Wednesday night and super-volunteers Judy and Mary for helping unload the cats at Tammy's today and getting them ready for a cold evening...
One of the cats, a cat that lives behind a strip mall (but appears to be friendly - the caretaker would like to take her inside), developed complications during surgery. She began bleeding profusely. The PAWS doctor staunched the bleeding and gave her a shot of Convenia (a long-lasting antibiotic). The cat looked good when I dropped it off at Tammy's tonight and, it's fortunate that she'll have a caretaker that wants to take her inside - looks like she needs a fair amount of TLC. Thanks PAWS!
With these first 44 cats of December, we've now processed 984 for the year (closing in on 1,000) and 3,465 overall.
