Yesterday, Feral Fixers brought 24 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed.
17 of these cats were true ferals while the other 7 were 'friendly ferals'. One of the cats, a 'friendly', had a heart murmur detected during its pre-operation checkup. PAWS called our president, Tammy, to verify that we still wanted to go ahead with the surgery. Just part of the normal PAWS service - thanks PAWS! This cat came through the surgery fine.
However, one of the ferals was found to have already been neutered (though it did not have an ear-tip - it does now) so we wound up with 23 surgeries.
Super-volunteer Jennifer picked up the cats from Tammy's and brought them to PAWS (Thanks Jennifer!) while super-volunteer Sue loaned us the use of her van so that I could pick up the cats from PAWS and bring them back to Tammy's for recovery (Thanks Sue!)
With these first 23 cats of the month, Feral Fixers has now processed 381 cats for the year and 2,862 overall since our inception.
