We brought one more cat, a feral, to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic today. Super-volunteer Jennifer picked up the cat from Tammy's this morning (Thanks Jennifer!) and took it PAWS while I picked it up this evening and brought it back to Tammy's for recovery.
All this work for just one cat? We had been allotted 10 slots at PAWS today and Tammy put out the word to the trappers, but this cat was all that showed up - and the trapper very nearly didn't get this cat. We couldn't in good conscience keep this cat in a trap until our next trip in (coming up Thursday) so we just had to get this one done. And, it turns out that it was a good thing we only had one cat today. Normally, PAWS schedules a few extra animals to do each day as some people invariably never show up. But today, EVERYONE showed up and Triple R Pets brought in a few more animals than originally planned for. PAWS wound up doing over 120 surgeries today, the most I've ever seen them do in one day. So, I guess it was a good thing that we only brought in one cat.
With this cat today, Feral Fixers has now processed 28 cats for the month, 247 for the year and 2,728 overall.
