I'm a little behind on my blogging...
Last Wednesday, Feral Fixers brought in its biggest, single load of the year to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic.
Details from our President, Tammy:
There were 21 friendlies and 25 ferals, but one friendly did not get surgery. Bloody diarrhea, roundworms; PAWS gave it Strongid and refused surgery.
One cryptorchid, an enormous cat, don't tell him he had an undescended testicle, he'll beat the crap out of you!
Super volunteers Julie & Connie, Judy and Jennifer all took cats in in the morning while super-volunteers Julie & Connie, Judy & Rita and Dale & Arlie picked up. Thanks Julie! Thanks Connie! Thanks Judy! Thanks Jennifer! Thanks Rita! Thanks Dale! Thanks Arlie!
PAWS had 127 animals for surgery on Wednesday!
The first five cats from the hoarder house went in today, they all seem nice but scared. We need fosters for them!
So to achieve all this, most people brought their cats to me. Super-volunteer Judy did some trapping and collecting of trapped cats. Super-volunteer Mary came over after work yesterday to help me set up cages for the friendlies and get newspaper into traps for cats we transferred or that had insufficient paper in their traps. She stayed til 9 PM and had to get up at 4:30 AM for work. Super-volunteer Judy stayed til 9, helping, too. I was working on paperwork til 11:30 PM. 3 vehicles = van, Jeep SUV and a car with a hatchback in the AM and replace the SUV with a pickup in the PM. Super-volunteer Judy came over to help me hand out cats that were going back to fosters, etc. Super-volunteer Mary is coming in the morning to feed and clean the cats in the garage - 22 of them.
46 cats require a lot of resources!
With these 45 cats, Feral Fixers has now processed 95 cats for the month, 920 for the year (another new, yearly record) and 2,399 overall.
