Feral Fixers TNR'd two more cats this past Sunday at the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter Clinic. On Sundays, we are limited to bringing in five cats to PAWS as this is normally a very busy day for them. So, Tammy put the word out to just a couple of our trappers (we don't want 30 cats showing up and then we have to keep them in Tammy's garage for several days) and we got but two. But the trip was still worth it - two more cats out of the breeding pool is still a significant achievement.
I drove the cats to PAWS and picked them up in the evening to bring them back to Tammy's.
One of them had just the stump of a tail left - with a bloody end to the stump. This cat had run into a garbage truck or a coyote or something that looked like just ripped it off. It must have been very painful. The vets at PAWS looked at it while the cat was under sedation and saw that most of the rest of the tail tissue was necrotic (dead). They removed the rest of the tail, sewed up the wound and gave the cat a shot of Convenia (a long-lasting/acting antibiotic). The cat should be fine and will enjoy a much healthier and pain-free life. Thank you PAWS - you guys are awesome!
With these two cats, Feral Fixers has now processed 50 cats for the month of November, 875 for the year (another new, yearly record) and 2,354 overall.
