On Sunday morning, a new volunteer (Julie) and I took five cats into the PAWS Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic for spay/neuter surgery.
I had a previous commitment for that evening, so another volunteer (Mary) and Julie picked up the cats from PAWS and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery.
Thanks Julie and Mary!
While we are PAWS, waiting to get checked in, I was able to speak with Rochelle Michalek - the Director of the Spay/Neuter clinic. She told me that PAWS had performed over 3,600 spay/neuter surgeries on feral cats in 2009! That's a big, big number and we are again grateful to PAWS for what they do. For $25, the feral cats have the spay/neuter surgery performed, micro-chip inserted, vaccinations for rabies and distemper and are treated for ear mites and worms. You just can't beat that deal...
With these five cats, Feral Fixers has now had 27 surgeries performed this month, 45 this year and 1,524 overall since our inception.
