7 More Cats
On December 20th, Mescal was finally neutered at 8 months. Mescal has had a long journey – as a kitten he would repeatedly throw up, unable to keep anything down. Investigation showed that he had a vascular ring anomaly, an extra blood vessel that usually disappears in kittenhood was wrapped around his esophagus. The vets wanted him to be large enough for a good outcome, so he was over 6 months old before he had his surgery, which took place at the end of October, and finally he was neutered in December. We will tell more of his story and hopefully report his adoption in the coming months.
On 12/30, we sent 6 friendlies to ADOPT, 3 males, 3 females. Happy kittens that will soon be posted for adoption – share our adoption event dates in January, February & March!
Our totals: December = 47, 738 for 2022, 13,952 since our start in 2007!
Just six kittens but what a difference for those kittens! |
Giving In The USA
Have you ever wondered how your donations compare to those of others across the US? Individuals ROCK!
Happy New Year!
What a year it has been! It feels like we have been going full tilt all year long! We have neutered a total of 738 cats, united over 300 cats with loving homes, increased the health of cats all over DuPage County+ and relocated over 120 cats since 2021 to safer locations. It is not easy to relate those numbers with actual cats when you don’t interact with them personally, but we’ve done so much as a result of our work with the cats that we’ve impacted felines and humans as well!
At year end, we receive so many donations which contain personal notes: “Thank you for all your good work!” “Thank you so much for all you do to help the feral cats of DuPage County. We very much appreciate your hard work and diligence.” “Thank you to everyone at Feral Fixers!” “Thank you for making our county better all year, every year!” “She has brought untold joy into our lives, and, for that, we thank you.” And the one that really got to me - “As I watched my fosters lying in front of the fire during the recent frigid cold spell, I thanked Feral Fixers for saving the cats we can” – from a foster. Who knew that receiving donations could be such an emotional journey? Thank you to everyone for their positive notes!
Remember, we could not do this without YOU!
