It was certainly a hot one on Saturday, 7/23! Fortunately, it was cool in the PetSmart at 63 Rice Lake Square in Wheaton for our adoption event. The heat did not keep away the visitors. We had many folks come and see our delightful cats and kittens available for adoption.

3 kittens were adopted during the event:

  • Cinnamon went home with a great family from Lombard. She will have an 8 month old male kitten as a companion, which is great, as she has a lot of play and energy in her. She was pawing through the cage at the kittens in the next cage looking for someone to play with!
  • Niagra went home with a family from Sublette, IL. They were in the area visiting family, saw our sign and came in to meet the kittens. Niagra will be a companion for their two children.
  • Mitchell went home with a wonderful family from Bartlett. They had adopted from us previously. He will have a terrific girl to cuddle with, similar to the situation he had at Bethany's, and 3 other cats to play with. Several other folks also stopped by and took cards, adoption applications and photos of our kitties. Hopefully we will hear back from them. One lady was especially interested in Charles as a companion for her adult daughter who is suffering from MS. Charles would be a great companion and lap buddy.
Fiona with her Cupcake Hat!

Fiona, our animatronic white mascot kitty, sported her "Cupcake Hat", knitted by Debbie. We plan to feature one hat at each subsequent adoption event and auction it off on-line after the event.

There were 5 adult cats (Baby Pinto, Jackie, Apple Sauce, Corin and Charles) at the event, as well as 10 kittens (Diana, Oliver, Talbot, Tamale, Tanner, Mitchell, Niagra, Jockey, Stevie and Cinnamon). Although the store environment is always a bit of stressful for many, everyone did very well.

Many thanks to the fosters who brought their kitties to the event, specifically Cheri, Debbie, Bethany, Pam, Javeria, Marjorie, Jessica, and Tori & Taylor. Special thanks to Bethany, Debbie and Marjorie who stayed during the event to greet our guests and help promote their kitties.

Many thanks also to the volunteers who helped with the event, specifically Sara, Debbie, Lauren and Bernie. Many thanks to Connie, Sara and Ted for the great publicity and real time coverage of the event with photos and a live feed on Facebook. Thanks also to Mike for updating our Adoptable Cats & Kittens binder, and to Debbie for updating our poster board.

Our next adoption event is scheduled for Saturday, 8/6, at the Pet Supplies Plus store at 720 E. Ogden Ave. in Naperville. We will be back at the PetSmart in Rice Lake Square in Wheaton on 8/20.
