Feral Fixers brought in 25 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic today to be fixed. Five of these cats were ferals while the other 20 were 'friendly ferals'.
Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Tammy's this morning and bring them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while I did a solo trip to pick up the cats from PAWS this afternoon and bring them back to Tammy's. It was a lite day at PAWS. They told me they would be done with our cats by 4:30pm. I arrived at PAWS at 4:15pm and they were done already and into their 'cleanup' mode. Two of the friendlies did not get surgery; one had been previously spayed while another was deemed too ill to have surgery. This made a total of 23 cats done this day. This brings our monthly total up to 129, our yearly total up to 1,249 and our overall total to 7,236.
The 1,249 done so far in 2014 represents (yet another) yearly record for us - we have kept alive our streak of each year getting more cats fixed than the previous year. Last year's total, the previous high-water mark for Feral Fixers, was 1,243, so we have now exceeded that by six this year - and there are still several weeks yet to go in 2014. I teased Tammy today by telling her that we were going to do 1,300 cats this year and she gave me this horrified look
Once again, we have to thank everyone who helps us in whatever capacity they help us. Some help with their time, some help with their money, some help with their non-monetary donations, etc., and all are important to the overall effort. I've said this before and I'll say it again; WE COULDN'T DO WHAT WE DO WITHOUT YOU - THANK YOU!
