Feral Fixers sent in 10 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed on Tuesday. Nine of these cats were ferals while the tenth was a 'friendly feral'.
Super-volunteer Charli picked up the cats from Tammy's in the morning and brought them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while super-volunteer Dedra picked up the cats from PAWS in the evening and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery and distribution (Thanks Dedra!). Feral Fixers President, Tammy McAuley, gives us this summary of the days activities:
One male came from where I also got 4 females. He came from an area that is surrounded on two sides by wide open field. Probably a huge coyote hunting ground. This tough guy has a big job protecting his colony. He was all-out feral and to make sure the clinic was fully informed, while I named him "Hardrock" he was also known as the Spawn of Satan - everyone paid attention to that. He also had an abscess on a hind leg, which the PAWS staff took care of and he received a convenia injection and hopefully his life will improve tremendously and he can be a much happier cat!
Charli delivered and Dedra picked up. Initially pickup time was 5:30, which became 6:00. Dedra left the clinic at 7:28 when she called me. But, was here by 8:05, being able to take the expressway. Ergo, later = faster.
I have big plans for the friendly and will be pushing for her to go to WSHS, so I did not microchip her as a favor to them, this saves them having to re-register the chip. Cross your fingers for Sunshine!
This day's work gives an April total of 107, a yearly total, so far, of 248 and a total of 6,224 cats fixed since we began work in late 2007.
