Today Feral Fixers brought in 32 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. Eight of these cats were ferals while the other 24 were Friendly Ferals.
Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Tammy's this morning and take them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while super-volunteer Dedra helped me pick up the cats from PAWS this evening and bring them back to Tammy's for recovery and distribution (Thanks Dedra!). And, as always, super-volunteer Judy was at Tammy's both this morning and this evening to help out with everything - Thanks Judy!
The day was somewhat eventful. My car started sluggishly this morning - very unusual for it - it always starts right up. At Tammy's, after I had loaded cats, the car wouldn't start. We just heard that sickening "click click click" sound indicating that there was not enough battery juice to start the car. Super-volunteer Judy had a set of jumper cables in her car, so we got my car started that way. Then she loaned them to me in case I needed them at PAWS, and it's a good thing she did. After Charli and I had dropped off the cats and finished all of the paperwork and were ready to leave, again my car wouldn't start. Charli's car was able to jump-start mine and I drove it right to my local car dealer where I get it regularly serviced. 3 hours and $540 later, my car had a new alternator and a new battery and now starts and runs fine, sigh...
Getting back to the cats, two of the Friendly Ferals were deemed to ill to have surgery, so we wound up getting 30 cats done on this trip. This brings our September total to 49, our yearly total to 849 and our overall total to 5,582.
