Last Thursday, Feral Fixers brought in 19 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. 12 of these cats were ferals while the other 7 were "friendly ferals". Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Judy's (our temporary base of operations until Tammy's flooding issues are dealt with) while super-volunteer Jodie picked up the cats from PAWS and brought them back to Judy's for recovery and redistribution.

Thanks Judy! Thanks Charli! Thanks Jodie!

One of the feral cats had some major issues. She had been bleeding when we brought her in and had recently given birth. When PAWS checked her out, they found that she had a "friable uterus". She also caused some major heartache when reviving after surgery, taking nearly and hour and a half to get her body temperature up to a level where PAWS felt comfortable releasing her. This cat received extra fluids and medical treatment to get her back - just another example of PAWS going "above and beyond" in their treatment of our cats - we love you PAWS!

Poor Jodie had to wait that extra hour and half, and this after she had been told the cats would be ready by 5pm - Thanks again Jodie! Judy reports that the feral mom is now doing fine.

One of the friendlies turns out to have been already spayed, so Feral Fixers wound up doing 18 on this trip. With these first 18 cats of May, Feral Fixers has now processed 249 cats for the year and 4,982 overall.
