Yesterday, Feral Fixers brought in 13 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. 11 of these cats were feral (special situation - living in a barn) while two of them were 'friendly ferals'.

Super-volunteer Charli picked up the cats in the morning from Tammy's and brought them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while I picked them up from PAWS in the afternoon and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery and distribution. And, as always, super-volunteer Judy was at Tammy's to help out with all of the tasks necessary to make all of this go...

It's getting frustrating, having to hold off on large-scale trapping, but the weather just has not been cooperating. As you all know, it's been unseasonably cold and snowy and that's a bad combination for a feral cat that has just had surgery. But the days ARE getting a bit warmer - surpassing the freezing mark is now happening occasionally! All this is going to lead to a frantic Spring, trying to catch up and head off the bumper crop of kittens that is almost certainly on the way. If you're considering volunteering, especially trapping or transport, now is a very good time to get on board - we'll be able to use all the help we can get. One of the two friendlies brought in today was deemed to be too ill to have surgery, so 'only' 12 cats were done today. This first 12 cats of March brings us up to 51 cat for the year and 6,027 overall.
