Feral Fixers brought in 38 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic on Thursday. Feral Fixers President Tammy gives us scoop:

Charli & Cathi did AM - Rita & Judy & Dedra did PM

We started the day with 40 cats but one kitten decided to develop URI overnight and another friendly had an absolute conniption at the thought of going into a carrier, so our net was 38 with 21 ferals and 17 friendlies. Of those, 11 were females and a whopping 27 were males - opposite of last week.

People who have seen me evaluate kittens in a trap know that I am very cautious but Wednesday there was a kitten that I was able to just reach in and handle immediately - she went in as a friendly. That is pretty much the criteria we are going to have to go with if kittens are going to come inside, at least until the numbers on hand are reduced. So Candie made the cut, others will be going back to shake it off and make it known whether they want to move inside - they have to really mean it!

This brings us to 38 to start the month, 980 for the year and 6956 since we began this odyssey. Will we make 7000 next week or the following week, on National Feral Cat Day?

Thank you to Charli, Cathi, Rita, Judy and Dedra - super-volunteers extraordinaire!
