Today, Feral Fixers brought in 40 more cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. 28 of these cats were ferals while the other 12 were 'friendly ferals'.

Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Tammy's this morning and bring them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while super-volunteers Rita and Judy helped me pick up the cats from PAWS this evening and bring them back to Tammy's for recovery and distribution (Thanks Rita! Thanks Judy!).

And as always, Judy (the 'other' Judy) was at Tammy's both this morning and evening helping out with all of the tasks necessary to make this all happen (Thanks Judy!).

It was a late day at PAWS - they had a fairly heavy load (which they had planned for), but over 90% of the animals brought in today were females (which they couldn't plan for in the case of ferals) and this meant that surgeries took longer than normal. But the good news is that all 40 of our cats were spayed/neutered. Normally in a group of this size there are usually two or three that don't get surgery because it's discovered that they've already been fixed, or they're too sick or something... But not today. 40 brought in = 40 surgeries. And with all of these females, that was kind of an extra bonus in the "kitten prevention effort".

With these 40 cats, Feral Fixers has now processed 98 cats for the month, 1,045 for the year (number 1,000 is already in the rear-view mirror) and 5,778 overall.
