Feral Fixers brought 31 cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic today, with 30 of them scheduled to be fixed. The 31st cat, Polly, is the one I wrote about last week; sick and injured and definitely not long for this world if forced to move back into the outside colony she came from. Tammy has been feeding her and taking care of her for the past week and today we brought her to PAWS - her new home. She will join the warehouse cat crew as they eliminate all things rodent in the building. She looked so much better today than when I last saw her. Awake, alert, staring at you and Tammy reports that she now comes to to the front of the trap when the other cats are being fed; awaiting her turn. It was really good to see her transferred to an environment where she should thrive and we are very grateful to PAWS for giving her this chance.

Of the 30 cats brought in to be fixed, 11 were ferals while the other 19 were friendly ferals. Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Tammy's and bring them to PAWS this morning (Thanks Charli!) while super-volunteer Stacy helped me pick them up from PAWS this evening and bring them back to Tammy's for recovery and distribution (Thanks Stacy!). And, as always, super-volunteer Judy was at Tammy's both this morning and evening, helping out with all of the tasks that are necessary for such an operation to be accomplished (Thanks Judy!).

Two of the friendlies were deemed too ill to have surgery, so we wound up having 28 cats fixed this day. This makes a total of 153 cats done for August, 751 for the year and 5,484 overall.
