This past Sunday morning, I took in nine feral cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, eartipped, dewormed, treated for ear mites and given shots for rabies and distemper. I know I've recited the litany of services that PAWS does for feral cats, but it bears repeating - for $25, you just can't beat it.

On Sunday evening, I picked them up and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery. Three of the cats were from Lombard, three from Glendale Heights and three from Roselle.

On Tuesday, yesterday, super-volunteer Judy brought nine more feral cats to PAWS-Chicago and new volunteer Julie (and her sister) picked them up and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery. Thanks Judy! Thanks Julie! Thanks Julie's sister! Three of these cats were from Villa Park, three more from Glendale Heights and three more from Lombard. Just knocking them out...

The picture thumbnail is of one of the cats brought in to PAWS on Tuesday (if you click on the thumbnail, you'll see a larger version of the picture). It's a little difficult to see through the cage, but there was a very large abcess on the side of the neck of this cat. The PAWS vet removed it and cleaned out the wound. It received antibiotics at PAWS and more was given to us to give to the caretaker. This is just one of those extra things that PAWS does for the cats. This is probably the only time this cat will ever see a vet. With this wound cleaned out and dosages of antibiotics for the next several days, this cat should have a chance at a normal 'feral' life. Thanks again PAWS...

With these 18 cats (nine on Sunday and nine on Tuesday), Feral Fixers has now had 27 cats fixed this month, 77 for the year and 1,556 overall.
