A light day today - only seven cats taken to the PAWS Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed. Six of them were friendlies while only one was a feral. More ferals were supposed to have been part of this batch, but a caretaker made the mistake of feeding 'her' cats on trapping day (even though she had been told not to) so they were not hungry enough to go into the traps. Sigh...

One of these friendlies was the noisiest cat I have ever heard. Usually the cats are pretty quiet on the way back from PAWS - recovering from surgery and all that. Not this guy. He start mewing his head off from the time he got back into the car until almost all the way back to Tammy's. It got so bad at one point, I pulled the car over and took his carrier out of the backseat to check it - just to ensure he was OK. As soon as he saw me, he shut up, started playing in his carrier and made it very clear that he wanted some attention (some food would have helped, too, I'm sure). When I returned him to the backseat, he immediately made his displeasure known again. This cat has a truly fine set of vocal chords...

Of the seven cats we brought in, one had already been spayed so we only did six in this batch. This brought us up to 98 for the month. However, Tammy remembered a cat we had taken to the vet early in November for treatment on his eye - and he had been spayed at the same time. We didn't count this cat in our totals, but will do so today - thus giving us a total of 99 for November, 830 for the year and 1,441 overall.
