Today we had 14 more cats fixed at the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic. 10 of them were feral cats while the other 4 were 'Friendlies'. I both drove them in this morning and picked them up this evening.

I wrote in my last post about how going to visit PAWS is almost like visiting family - I know so many of the people who work there. But it also applies to me knowing the other people who bring their ferals into PAWS to get them fixed. Rare is my trip to PAWS now when I don't see at least one person I know who is bringing in ferals. Today there were 4; Jan (from Kane County), Debbie (from Triple R Pets) and Cindy and Sandy ('lone rangers'; i.e., not part of any formal organization but they bring in a lot of cats). I also got to meet Debbie's boyfriend, Joe, who was helping her with the cats. There were also two other people there with their feral cats. One came up to me and told me that she was trying to work with her neighbors (north side Chicago) to TNR a colony in their area. She was having trouble getting the person who was feeding the cats to work with her and consequently was having a hard time trapping the cats. I gave her some tips and insight and hope to see her again at PAWS soon, this time with more than the one cat she was able to bring in today.

With these 14 cats, Feral Fixers has now had 118 cats fixed this month, 725 this year and 1,336 overall.
