As families were busy with vacations and back to school activities, adoptions took a bit of a dip at the beginning of August.  Things ramped up by the end of the month, however, and we closed out August with a notable total of 33 adoptions!  This included 4 adult cats (Oscar, Sylvia, Chloe & Claire) and 29 kittens.

We held 2 adoption events at our building in August (8/13 & 8/27).  While only 5 adoptions actually occurred at these events, many other adoptions occurred as a result of the guests who attended these events and the promotions before and after these events.

Many thanks to the fosters who participated in these events and/or enabled the 33 adoptions in August - Agnes, Ashley, Catherine, Cheri, Chrystie, Dawn, De, Denise, Diana, Jason, Jen, Jenny, Jill, Joanna, Lynne, Marge, Mirian, Olivia, Sarah, Zenny.

Thanks also to the volunteers who made the August adoption events a success - Trista and Laura B for help with building setup and cleaning on Friday night; Sara, Steve, Christy and Olivia for handling cage set-up on Saturday; Sara, Olivia, Candy, Christy and Trista for help with adoption counseling and interacting with our guests; Steve for staffing the front desk and greeting our guests, creating the cage cards and coordinating our lunch run; Candy and Sara for photography and Facebook posting; Connie and Ted for the great job promoting our events.

We have 2 adoption events scheduled for September at our building:

  • Saturday, 9/10, 11am-3pm
  • Saturday, 9/24, 11am-3pm

In 2022 so far, we have found loving homes for ~100 of the kittens we rescued this year.  We currently have ~100 kittens and ~20 adult cats in foster care and in our building.  We are likely to rescue many more kittens and cats before the 2022 season ends.

We need foster homes!

Energy is always high at the start of the spring kitten season after fosters have had a break and are waiting to receive their first foster kittens.  As the fall season begins and life gets busier for many families with school and other commitments, finding fosters for the kittens we rescue becomes more difficult.  It is sad to have to make the decision to return kittens outside because we do not have enough foster resources.

If you or anyone you know is able to foster kittens this fall, we would greatly appreciate it.  There are still many kittens we are likely to rescue this fall, who would benefit from the opportunity of a foster home to allow them to prepare for life indoors.  The kittens rescued in the fall deserve just as good a chance at a loving forever home as those rescued in the spring.  Can you help?

Thanks,

Sue
