It was a beautiful spring-like day on Saturday, 1/20, for our adoption event at Kriser's Natural Pet Market in Glen Ellyn. It seemed like folks may have been out enjoying the nice weather, as foot traffic was rather light in the store. However, the focus of attention of the folks who did stop by was on our adults, which is terrific!

  • Watson captured the heart of a couple from Clarendon Hills. Adoption is pending confirming approval by their landlord.
  • Tio was the favorite of another potential adopter. Follow-up is underway.

We also received a generous food donation from Kriser's and the customers of Kriser's - much appreciated! So it was a good day!

6 kittens (Scooby, Scrabble, DingDong, Popcorn, Sweden & Swiss Miss) and 5 adults (Watson, Tio, Nina, Gibbs & Tony) were the stars of the show. Everyone handled the situation well. Tio and Gibbs were especially anxious to interact with our guests. Popcorn played the role of caring uncle to the 3 kittens in the cage with him (Scrabble, Scooby & DingDong). He seemed especially attached to Scrabble - grooming him and always keeping a paw on him - how cute! Tony struggled a bit with the trip to the event and the event itself, so we had to separate him from Gibbs. Gibbs, on the other hand, was quite relaxed and loved the interaction and petting he received.

Many thanks to the volunteers who helped with a speedy set-up and efficient clean-up, specifically Sara, Candy, Lauren and Laurel. Many thanks to Diane L and Debbie for bringing all of the cats & kittens to the event. And many thanks to everyone, including Julie, for interacting with our guests and helping to promote our great cats & kittens.

Special thanks to Candy and Julie for the excellent photographic and video coverage of the event. Many thanks to Connie and Ted for advertising the event and providing live Facebook coverage. Thanks to Lauren for the cute cage cards, and to Debbie and Mike for updating the Adoptable Cats & Kittens board and binder. Thanks to Sara for help with the laundry.

Our next adoption event is this coming Saturday, 1/27, at the PetSmart at 63 Rice Lake Square in Wheaton from 11am-3pm. This will be a larger event with many more and different kittens & cats.

Thanks,

Sue
