Barring something totally unforeseen, today was the last "PAWS run" for 2014 for Feral Fixers. We brought in 37 cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic to be fixed today. 34 of these cats were friendly ferals (mostly kittens and very young adults) while the other 3 were ferals.

Super-volunteer Charli helped me pick up the cats from Tammy's this morning and take them to PAWS (Thanks Charli!) while super-volunteer Dedra helped me pick up the cats from PAWS this evening and take them back to Tammy's for distribution (Thanks Dedra!). And, as always, super-volunteer Judy was at Tammy's both this morning and this evening to help out with everything (Thanks Judy!).

I had car-trouble this morning, but not of the "usual" kind - I couldn't open any of the doors! As any of you who live in the area know, we've had several days of freezing drizzle lately and, since my SUV is parked outdoors, the water worked its way into the door latch mechanisms and froze there! Not a single door would open! It took 5-10 minutes of pounding, pushing, yanking and swearing before I could get one of the doors open. Then I had to crawl around inside the car, pushing the car doors from the inside before I could finally get them open. I guess Charli's right - I really should consider getting a remote starter for the car!

One of the ferals had turned out to be already fixed (though not eartipped or microchipped) and one of the friendlies was deemed too ill for surgery, so we wound up having 35 cats fixed this day.

These first (and hopefully only) 35 cats for December give us a final total of 1,288 for the year (once again, besting our yearly record) and 7,275 overall.

On to Frosty Claws - hope to see you all there!
