This past weekend, November 14th and 15th, Feral Fixers held two Adoption Events at the PetSmart in Rice Lake Square in Wheaton. These events were part of the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend. Feral Fixers Board Member and Adoption Coordinator Sue gives us the details:

Saturday, November 14th

Today's event was a huge success! We had 8 adoptions today - 7 kittens and 1 adult. All but one were to pre-approved adopters. The same day adoption was to a family that had contacted us previously.

Scout (Cheri's foster) and Penny (Veronica's foster) went home with a great dad and his 2 children, 13 yr old daughter & 16 yr old son, who live in Lombard.

Tudor (3 yr old handsome long fur black & white boy, Cheri's foster) went home with a family in Elmhurst who has dog and another cat and recently lost a cat that looked very similar to Tudor.

Arabella (Cheri's foster) went home with family in Plainfield with 2 children (son age 3 and daughter age 6, who loved and played with Arabella) and a Shih Tzu/Toy Fox Terrier puppy. They are hoping that the puppy & Arabella will be buddies.

Hepburn and Streisand (Bethany's fosters) went home with a great couple from Bolingbrook, who also have a 4 yr old chihuahua.

Archie (Maureen's foster) went home with a young lady and her mom from Lisle. Archie will have a 3 yr old male cat buddy as well as a 16 yr old male cat companion.

Van Buren (Judy's foster) went home as a foster to adopt with a young woman who previously adopted Stripe from us in August. Van Buren is from the same location as Grover and looks very similar to him, just a bit older and shyer. He should do well in this gals' quiet apartment. He is about the same age as Stripe, so they will likely become good buddies.

Sunday, November 15th

We had another successful adoption event at PetSmart today :-) 5 kitties went home - 3 kittens & 2 adults. All but one were to pre-approved adopters, and the one who was not pre-approved had also contacted me in advance, we just hadn't finished the approval. We also received inquiries from 2 other families who I am following up with.

Grover went home with a wonderful family from Sycamore. He will have 2 well-behaved children to play with him and a 12 yr old English Golden Retriever to keep him company when they are not around.

Whispers went home with a great lady from West Chicago, who is a big advocate of animal rescue.

Mindy went home with a great guy from Carol Stream, who will give her the patient attention to make her feel comfortable.

Ruby went home with a wonderful young woman, her mom and brother from Palatine, who is big supporter of rescue and knew the gal whose yard Ruby was found in.

Garnet went home with a great family from Bolingbrook. With no other pets to bother her, she will be queen of the house - much to her liking!

So in the course of the 2 days we had 13 adoptions!!! Many thanks to the folks that made this event possible!

Wow, 13 Adoptions! Fantastic job Sue! And congratulations and THANK YOU to all the Fosters and Volunteers who made this all possible!
