I took in 8 more feral cats to the PAWS-Chicago Spay / Neuter clinic to be fixed today. I both dropped them of and picked them up and the trip was uneventful.

Several other people / groups were at PAWS today with their ferals, among them Cat Guardians, a shelter in Lombard, who are helping to clean up a Hoarding situation. I've never been directly involved in one of these, but I know our President, Tammy McAuley, has helped clean up several of them. She tells me they're pretty horrific and I can believe her. Who in their right mind would think that keeping 50+ cats (sometimes a lot more) in a house, without spay/neutering any of them, is OK?

When I volunteered at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary last year, they put me with the "Pahrump cats", cats that had been recovered in a hoarding situation in the town of Pahrump. When all was said and done, they had found over 800 CATS in this house and on this property. Truly, hell on earth...

I'm sure that somewhere down the line I'll get more directly involved with a hoarding situation, but I'm not looking forward to it. In the meantime, I'll keep transporting cats to PAWS...

With these cats, Feral Fixers has now had 955 cats spay / neutered since its inception. You can find a summary of the cats we've taken care of by clicking on the "Statistics" tab in the Main Menu box.
