This past Sunday, Feral Fixers processed 10 more cats at the PAWS-Chicago Spay/Neuter clinic. All of them were true ferals, but one may turn out to be a friendly so we had it tested for FiV-FeLV (tests turned out negative - good news).

Normally, we are limited to five cats on Sunday (Sunday is PAWS busiest day) and we had only planned on bringing in five. However, five more showed up at the last minute (in several groups) so we sent them into PAWS and hoped for the best. Fortunately, they are now using their new mobile spay/neuter clinic (the GusMobile - see my previous post about this) in addition to their clinic and so they were able to handle the additional load - Thank You PAWS!

Super-volunteer Jennifer picked up the cats from Tammy's and drove them to PAWS (thanks Jennifer!) while I picked them up from PAWS (along with our rabies-hold kitty) and brought them back to Tammy's for recovery.

Of these 10 cats, 4 were from Glendale Heights (3 different locations), 1 was from Downers Grove, 1 was from Bolingbrook, 2 were from Woodridge, 1 was from Wood Dale and 1 was from Bensenville. One of the ones from Woodridge was "a mistake". The caretaker was putting food next to the trap to get the cats accustomed, she thinks one of her children put the food in the trap and set it - and there you go! Surprise kitty!

Several of these cats may have homes if they turn friendly after their neuter, which we are always happy to hear.

One cat had a damaged eye, another had abcesses in three different places on their body and one had a damaged tail. The PAWS vet examined all of the wounds, and treated the ones where appropriate (some were old and healed) - thank you (again) PAWS!

With these 10 cats, we've now done 54 for the month, 101 for the year and 2,582 overall.
